Are you a Veterinary Technologist looking for a change of pace? Perhaps you’ve envisioned yourself living the quintessential Kootenay lifestyle, but you’ve yet to locate the perfect community.
Maybe you’re hoping to live in a home that doesn’t break the bank and puts you in close proximity to the beautiful rivers, lakes, and mountains British Columbia is famous for.
WE’RE WILLING TO BET YOU’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR US ALL ALONG!
WHY CRESTON VALLEY?
Located in the agriculturally-based Creston Valley, we have four great seasons, but spring comes early by Canadian standards. Like the Okanagan, the Creston Valley is renowned for the quality, quantity, and variety of fruit we grow, including grapes. In fact, one of our favourite pastimes is enjoying a glass or two of our favourite wine from one of 4 local wineries at a little event called “Wine Down Friday”. Fruit, wine, art and artisans; we have it all. Creston’s award-winning outdoor Farmers’ Market proudly showcases an abundance of produce, and other wares unique to the area.
If you’re raising a family with us, you’ll find comfort in knowing your neighbours well, as Creston boasts a deep sense of community. What’s more, the Kootenay Lake School District has demonstrated their commitment to your child’s education by developing a close-knit community of schools around Creston, with small class sizes and teachers who foster ideas of academic success, creativity and imagination, citizenship, and resiliency. You can rest assured that your child will get a very well-rounded upbringing, in and out of the classroom.
Our sports community is lively (go Thundercats!) and we have an array of facilities, indoor and out, to keep all of the athletes in your family happy, including our Community Complex, which boasts a comprehensive fitness centre, arena, curling arena and lounge, soccer field, beach volleyball courts, skateboard park, an aquatic centre, and an excellent selection of leisure classes!
For those of you seeking more adventure, our valley does not disappoint! Nestled between the steep scarps of the Purcell Mountains to the east and the neighbouring Selkirk Mountains to the west, Creston lies in the ‘heart of the Kootenays’. Whether it’s summiting one of our nearby peaks, cascading down the Goat River, water-skiing on Kootenay Lake, or fishing Duck Lake for an abundance of Bass, there’s something for everyone here, year-round. While Creston experiences mild winters, the nearby Kootenay Pass receives a startling amount of snow and offers outstanding snowmobiling and ski touring in the winter. If that’s not enough, we’re only an hour and a half away from 4 world-class resorts, including Whitewater, Red Mountain, Kimberley, and Schweitzer in the USA. Creston is a mecca for the adventurous soul, too!
AS FOR US:
We’re a fortunate group of people; we get to work with peers who are enthusiastic, team-oriented, and genuinely passionate about their work. At the Creston Veterinary Hospital, we don’t take this for granted. Our team is why our clients and patients have been returning to us for more than 45 years; because our goal is to support them every step of the way. Our commitment to quality patient care is evident in our ongoing mentorship. We encourage growth and challenge you to practice your technical skills in-clinic and on location, using our full in-house lab, digital full body and dental radiology units, ultrasound, and companion animal laser.
